I am currently closed for the Christmas break and I will be back and taking orders as of 7th January 2025. Thank you!

A little more insight into Powertex, my ethos and how I like to help people create beautiful unique pieces of Art, and treat themselves to some relaxing and creative "Me" time.

A little more insight into Powertex, my ethos and how I like to help people create beautiful unique pieces of Art, and treat themselves to some relaxing and creative "Me" time.

Creating with the fabulous medium of Powertex is a great experience, a real chance to shut out the real world for a while and have some time just for yourself.

It is a very messy but extremely creative medium.

You can share the experience with someone you know who loves to create or I can arrange one to one sessions.

I will lead you through the creation of the subject possibly creating an armature adding the recycled fabric and possible embellishments.

I will then give full step by step tuition in the colouring process. Colouring is my absolute passion.

Almost all of the fabrics I use are purchased from the charity shops, as I like to use something old in my art.

I have become known in my area for recycling items into my art and often come home to find bags of goodies on the doorstep that someone has saved for me to use in my art!

Powertex is a wonderful mixed media solution which not only hardens fabric, but does so much more.

The colouring process of Powertex Fabric sculpting is the real “Wow” factor no-one can ever believe the difference the colouring makes.

There are a huge number of colouring options from flat colours through pearl colours to the metallics and a very greatly differing combination of each of these, makes your artwork totally unique!

This for me is what makes it so exciting. I am a self confessed colour queen and love lots of colour!

Many of my designs are built from scratch and you will get to see exactly how they were built.

Many of the materials I use are recycled, it gives me great pleasure, not to throw stuff away but to re-use it instead in my art.

I re-purpose glass bottles and jars, yoghurt pots, broken jewellery and watches, old ornaments and outdated glass into new and beautiful pieces of art.

Or I take fairly boring things and make them extra special using the amazing medium of Powertex.

Regardless of whether you have tried Powertex before, most people, given a reasonable degree of dexterity can achieve beautiful pieces of artwork.

Some subjects are slightly more challenging but this is usually reflected in the time they take to achieve.

Workshops of entry level subjects usually take approximately 3 to 4 hours minimum but there are a number of subjects that take considerably longer, some even over two or three days, so you can to commit to as much or as little as you like.

You can continue to learn something new from each repeat experience with Powertex.

Fabric Sculpting is very different from projects using Stone Art and 3D Flex and  Mixed Media is a whole other world, so plenty to learn and keep you interested.

Not all subjects are created the in the same way.

So every project and workshop is very different.

What this means is that it is not always possible to create diversely different projects on the same day.

It might be possible if the construction methods are very similar.

Generally this results in longer times for multi project workshops and means slightly greater fee.

If you would like to incorporate something personal into your art work, do bring it with you on your workshop, and we will try to add it in so that you have a keepsake with a very special meaning to you.

My Experience in Crafts over 40 years in a potted history. It is official I am a Passionate Powertex Addict! and here is my crafting story:

I have always been a crafter and an artist, as a young child I was always cutting, sticking and pasting. I have tried most crafts, Indian Ink painting, Calligraphy and Pottery all come to mind.

I also ran a successful cake decorating company for many years creating and designing wedding and celebration cakes.

I have made cards and scrapbooks and I ran a monthly scrapbook club and scrapbook retreats.

I have taught Papercrafts and Mixed Media for some time. You could say Paint and Ink are in my blood.

Some years ago whilst at a Cake exhibition in Birmingham at the NEC, I saw Powertex on display and was really impressed, so I vowed to experience it for myself.

Finally in 2016 I managed to go to a couple of Powertex workshops with the very lovely and talented Donna McGhie and absolutely loved the experience. I was then was lucky enough to win a Bursary at my WI for a £100 towards some kind of training, that was the push I needed to go for my Powertex Tutor training. And the rest they say is history!

I am now a crazy Powertex addict! I feel that all the skills I have learned over the years from other crafts will enhance and aid my experience with Powertex. I think I have finally found my niche as a Certified Powertex Tutor qualified in Fabric Sculpting, Stone Art, Mixed Media, and 3D Flex, I help others to explore their creativity, using the fabulous medium of Powertex which is Water Based, Non-Toxic and Environmentally friendly.

It is a highly creative medium which is both a paint and glue combined and is used to harden fabric, allowing the creation of 2D and 3D Art pieces. It has the added benefit of being weather resistant once it has dried for a minimum of three weeks, & therefore can be displayed outside in your gardens.

Powertex sticks to fabric, all fabric but is best used with 100% natural fibres it hardens best, and sticks to itself more readily, because of this though, it is advisable to wear old clothing when you attend workshops and if possible remove any jewellery on your wrists.

I do supply an apron and powder-free and latex free gloves so you will be mostly covered. If you have long hair it is a good idea to tie it back as you do not really want Powertex in it!

The workshops are held in my purpose built studio at the bottom of my garden, for a maximum of 4  people but I am available to visit other venues in my catchment area for larger groups, or I can come to your house for bespoke workshops, if you would like a one to one workshop or cannot make it down to my studio which is via a gravel path. just email me to arrange a mutual date and time.

I also undertake commissions – contact me to discuss your requirements.

I run workshops in the Waterlooville area which is near Portsmouth, Hampshire so PO7 and PO8 postcodes if this is your postcode then I am your designated local tutor.

If you are not in these postcodes I can put you in touch with your local tutor for your area.

I look forward to meeting you, and watching as you amaze yourself with what you can create, and helping you along your creative journey!

I positively encourage you to "give yourselves the gift of Play!"
